You Gotta BE before You Can BE
I’m going to tell you something that may very well provide you with the answer that you have been seeking for a long time. You’ve been wondering “WHY haven’t I seen the changes that I’ve been longing for?” I will give you the short answer:
You gotta BE before you can BE
Many times, we’ve been trying to get somewhere but we have put the cart in front of the horse. We’ve been trying to get warm by telling the fire place that “Once you give me some heat, then I’ll give you some wood.”
Many are trying to change their situation (and have perhaps enjoyed a bit of success) only to later sabotage their own efforts. WHY?
Change begins on the inside!
If you don’t first make a change inwardly, then your insides won’t be able to support nor sustain the outer change that you have forced into being.
Where are you desiring to see change right now? Is it weight loss? Is it weight gain (Don’t laugh. That was my earnest desire years ago.)? Do you desire to break free from some addiction?
You must become willing to do the inner work. This is the only way that you will be able to produce the lasting change that you truly desire.
Mat 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Change…I’m talking about lasting change is the fruit which comes from inner change. “What kind of inner change, Minister Hunter?”
I’m talking about a change to your self-identity.
Get this into your heart, my dear friend:
Behavior follows Identity!
Behavior follows Identity!
Behavior follows Identity!
The change that you desire does not come simply because:
you want to change
you know you should change
you decide to look like you’ve changed
If you are unwilling to do the inner work of renewing your mind to God’s truth about you and your God-given identity, you will never be able to experience the blessed life that God has already prepared for you.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
